Let's talk salsa!

I have a few recipes coming up with salsa as an ingredient, it only seems fair to share my recipe so you are prepared!

Let's talk sal-sa (I like to say "sal-sa")!

Picante, pico de gallo, salsa verde, salsa roja, salsa ranchera, mole, guacamole...the possibilities are endless.

I once saw a recipe for carrot salsa, now that's creative!

My love for salsa is mild (pun intended) compared to Super Hunk's. It's more than just his favorite, it's occasionally a meal!

Shout out to low-maintenance husbands everywhere!

When Super Hunk and I first married, I was buying gourmet salsa for $8! In hind sight, the only thing that made it gourmet was the charming packaging!

I'm a sucker for clever (and adorable) advertising. Marketing gurus build focus groups around chumps like me!

When I came to my senses, I realized paying $8 for salsa qualified me for a free head examination (if it's anything like a gynecological examination, I'll pass)!

So it began, my journey to sal-sa discovery!

Salsa
1 (14 oz.) can FIRE ROASTED diced tomatoes (fire roasted is the secret)
1 tablespoon onion, chopped
1 (4 oz.) can chopped green chiles
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 tablespoon fresh cilantro
Dash of cayenne pepper (add more if you like the heat)
Salt & pepper to taste

Rough chop onion and garlic, just enough to ensure thorough blending.

To blender, add can of tomatoes (juice too), green chiles, onion, garlic and cilantro. Blend until it's the consistency you prefer (I want mine chunk-free so I blend...and blend...and blend, until it screams for mercy).

Add spices and blend until mixed.

Pour and enjoy!

No double-dipping!

(What is your favorite salsa chip? If you've never tried blue corn chips, I highly recommend them!)
