His final mission...

The day a son is born, a man becomes a Superhero. In the same way Clark Kent entered the phone booth as a reporter and emerged as Superman, a Father transforms.

At that moment, his mission is clear. He must teach, mold, mentor, discipline (with love) and most of all, protect.

The boy closely follows behind, carefully emulating his Superhero's every action. Each situation becomes a learning adventure; he writes every detail in his little mental notebook.

Time passes and the boy becomes a man, mindfully resembling the pillar of strength he calls "Dad".

Their values are similar, their beliefs are parallel, their mannerisms are much the same, and even as life moves on, their bond is unbreakable.

The day arrives when age is inevitable and even Superheroes lose their strength. For the once starry-eyed boy, his Superhero has never been more heroic. Death is his Superhero's last mission, never giving up the fight.

He wears his cape with honor and pride, once again teaching his son to persevere. The end is imminent but the bond is unyielding. A Superhero, in the heart of a boy, is everlasting.

(This post is inspired by our dear friends, grieving the loss of their Father today. They are experiencing the finality of death and the pain associated with it. I pray this makes their heart smile, knowing their Superhero is always with them, "everlasting".)
