A dash of chaos

Since it's Friday, I thought I'd share in my chaos!

We've all seen depictions of perfect women with perfect lives on cooking shows, Facebook pages, blogs, etc. They cook for their spotless children with impeccable table manners. The kitchen is immaculate and their accessories, dangling flawlessly, adorn a freshly ironed blouse.

Ahhhh, the dream...of a freshly ironed blouse...an immaculate kitchen...sorry, back on track...

This blog is all about real life, so here we go....

This morning, while preparing a pot of Corn Chowder (see Saucepan Shenanigans for recipe), I peered out the window to see another day of snow! This Colorado girl usually longs for snow, today was different. Kitchen pipes frozen, a toddler with a nearly intolerable case of cabin fever, and three dogs (if left outside for more than 7.5 minutes would turn into K-9 popsicles), was a bit much!

It makes me tired just typing it!

Reality looks like this...I cooked for my slobber-covered child with reasonable table manners (a work in progress). My kitchen was in NO WAY immaculate and my non-existent accessories adorned my Harvard hoodie!

My son is happy and the Corn Chowder was delicious!

Here's to reality...I'll take it any day!

(My view while cooking. Ambulance down! Paramedic Joe injured!
The cutest pair of snow-covered shoes by the back door! Is that an orange?)
